Electric city bus VERO marks the beginning of a new partnership between TAM-Europe, Malta Public Transport, and Transport Malta. The electric city bus VERO will be the first fully electric bus operating on Malta’s roads. It will be tested in a pilot project focused on efficiency and adaptability in real local conditions.
The electric city bus VERO is designed for Malta’s specific road characteristics. These include short distances between bus stops and hilly terrain. The project will evaluate performance, energy efficiency, and passenger comfort in daily operation.
Felipe Cosmen, Chairman of Malta Public Transport, highlighted that their bus fleet is the cleanest and youngest in Europe. More than half of the fleet is less than five years old. He also noted that the electric city bus VERO represents the latest step in Malta Public Transport’s strategy to reduce climate impact.
According to Mr. Cosmen, the introduction of the electric city bus VERO should encourage more people to use public transport. This helps protect the environment and reduce emissions. “Sustainability is high on our agenda, and we are committed to operating in an environmentally friendly manner,” he said.
Malta’s public transport system continues to grow. In 2019, more than 58 million passengers used public transport. Further growth is expected in the coming years.
At TAM-Europe, we are proud to take part in this important project. The zero-emission electric city bus VERO supports cleaner mobility and offers a better travel experience for thousands of passengers across Malta every day.
